Seems Rachel Reeves is going after older drivers hard, I know it's been hinted about for years but she seems to have the bit between her teeth.
It won't be so easy to renew your licence anymore, you'll have to prove certain things and maybe take a test.
Could you pass a driving test these days? I doubt I could.
That's only for your 70s, hit 80 and it will be a lot harder to renew and a test certainly involved.
Are we being targeted? Or is it my imagination. From reading lots of articles it seems the young ones want us off the roads and out of the way for good.
Can't post links on here my tablet seems to have lost the copy link option in it's neverending updates.🤬
Will have to fire up the big computer to get links to the articles.

But why would old people need to drive, when they'll be forced to house asylum seekers who'll act as live-in carers and bring in enough dosh to pat for the hearing to be turned up and working part time as Uber or delivery drivers.

I tend to agree with the proposal, I stopped driving just before my 80th birthday...80? I hear you gasp...you don't look a day over 30 young Vlad'
My eyesight is still ok ( unlike some of you who said I only looked 30), but some medical conditions I have make it a bit dodgy now.

Such as letching at young ladies for way too long, instead of keeping your eyes on the road.

Well, if cars become driverless, then one wouldn't need to pass a test.

Indeed, I have bent some military vehicles in my time, I was easily distracted in my younger days

Indeed, I blame my parents, the medication, the guvvermunt and not being properly supervised, I should get compensation.

If it was just a driving test I think I'd be ok, but I'd never pass a written test.

And those ladies need reparation.  It's the in-thing nowadays.  All the rage.

The link is saying that Labour COULD impose these strict new rules for older people..
This has been hinted at for many years..

I do think that older people with ( certain) health problems
should be checked..
At the moment it's up to the driver , when applying for a new license, to submit any health problems..
I am sure many are not always truthful when answering questioned..

I have a friend with Parkinson.. his hands shake and he seems to be slowing down a little when in a conversation..
He still drives..
And another who walked out of the hospital he was staying in.. He was in his dressing gown and slippers.. He got on a bus and made his way home.. Which involved a fair distance walk.. He still drives..

I know I wouldn't pass a theory test.. I tried it on line with my granddaughter.. I failed and so did she..
I would hope to pass my driving test.. I feel that I am a careful driver... But who knows. !!
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

If you keep doing the practice tests, you will eventually "ace" them (as the orange ex POTUS would say).  Which is no bad thing really.

The truth is we don't have the reactions we had when younger and the roads are horrendously busy. ,
