I hope you had a good time! Nice to do something different.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

We did thanks, went to a place down by the harbour called "Wickers World" great place with good food and lovely staff.
This was our last meet up for the year, exchanged Christmas Presents and had a good catch up. Had a rake round the shops before driving back home.

It's good to meet up with old friends and have a bite to eat and a natter, isn't it.

I had lunch last Monday with an old friend that I hadn't seen for about 10 years.   We used to work together.
She went through a difficult patch a few years back, and moved away from the area, so I was pleased to see her again.

I was also spoiled last Saturday when my son took me out to lunch for my birthday at a very unusual log cabin-type place.  It had beautiful views right outside the windows of miles of farmland and countryside,  so peaceful.  Bet its beautiful there in the summer.
I'd sooner sit and have a meal somewhere like that,  than somewhere posh and with traffic and noise outside the windows.

Good morning all,  it's a bit chilly this morning,  but at least there's some blue sky for a change.

I've still got no hot water or heating.  Half his staff are off sick,  so the boss-man himself said he will do his best to get here this afternoon.   Fed up to the teeth with it I am.

Dentist this morning,   just my six-monthly check up, so fingers crossed everything's alright there.

I received a letter yesterday saying they have made an appointment for me at the hospital in February.
I couldn't fathom this out as it did not say what for, who I'm seeing, or what department even.
Even more unhelpful was  it said if I can't make it to let them know  -  but the flippin'  phone number was missing!

I have just looked them up and found a contact number and rang them.  The lady I spoke to  said they were new forms just been printed, so I suggested she tell the printers to put a flippin' phone number on, and what department patients are supposed to be going to.

Shhh . . . . .  I daren't tempt fate and say too much out loud,   but I think my boiler might be mended.

The boss himself has been here this afternoon,  and at first he thought he'd fixed it,  but then when he double checked,  water was spouting out all over the place again, worse than ever.
His jacket was wet, and it spouted all over his face and glasses.
I was delighted it did it while he was still here, and not after he'd gone.
So we were back to square one again.

He spent another hour or more in the boiler cupboard,  not really sure what he was doing because I don't understand the workings of boilers,  but I do believe it is finally mended.   It was something to do with that  heat plate but fingers crossed its fixed now.  I know he put new rubber washers round some parts,   re-aligned something,  and tightened lots of knobs and screws,  and dare I say -  so far, so good.   My house is getting warm at last,  and I have hot water in the taps.
I am just praying it lasts this time.

Finally, someone's created something useful to wear during those excessively long (usually Catholic, in my experience) funeral services that can take up to 2 hours.

Thanks Dex, Klondie and Raven.
It doesn't half make you appreciate things we normally take for granted.

Absolutely Mups.  It also never ceases to amaze me how one tiny component failure (possibly a small rubber o ring in your boiler incident) can have such catastrophic effects.

If you need those pants then maybe you should consider a small rubber o ring Dex

I have a funeral to attend this morning.  Sadly I won't have time to get the desired apparel in time, so will have to make do with a car washing sponge in a plastic bag and gaffer tape, as usual.😬

A cold and frosty morning earlier,  but mostly thawed now.

I won't be going far today, it will be bedlam in town with all the Christmas shoppers scurrying about.
Just need to pop out and try and get a new pair of slippers,  otherwise it will be a day at home.
There are almost no shoe shops about any more,  not locally anyway.
Remember the days of Freeman Hardy & Willis anyone?
