Oh No  . . . .   stamps feet,  curses abundantly, and turns air blue . .

My boiler has just conked out again tonight.
Water has poured out all over the floor,  Fault message showing again,  no heating, and no hot water.

Have topped the pressure up again,  put another bucket under the boiler,  and emailed the company.
I know he starts work about 7.30,  so hoping for a very quick reply.

I only put their bloody cheque  in the post this afternoon too!

Regarding the previous post,  the man has just told me he's had 3 engineers phone in sick this morning.    Best he can do is get here tomorrow now.

I've put another bucket in the boiler cupboard,  put some more pressure in,  and will have to see if it lasts until they can get here tomorrow.

Can't you see where the leak is coming from? It may only need something tightening up which they loosened when they came before.

Cancel that cheque until it's sorted.

One isn't allowed inside boilers, as you well know.

I really feel for you Mups.. Nothing worse then loss of heating and hot water especially this time of year.. I hope they get it sorted once and for all tomorrow..

We all tend to get a loss of hot water at our age 😬😬

The water may well be leaking from the outside pipework and you can do what you like with that.

Often cold by the time it's noticed though - that's what gives it away

Both true, although if it was from an external pipe, I'd have thought that Mups might have seen that.  Unlikely to be one from the manifold anyway, but who knows?🤷🏻♂️

Bottom line is that her plumber needs to get round there presto pronto, in case it requires a part which needs ordering.

Meeting the girls over in Wick for lunch today. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Scrumps.   What with this, and the car petrol thing, and one or two health problems worrying me,  it's getting to me a bit.

It's not like me to be miserable.  Sorry.

From what I gather,  when he replied to my email this morning,  he said maybe the pattern on the new  heat exchanger plate they've just put in,  doesn't quite line up.
He said the gas side of it is running perfectly.

As for where the water is coming from,  I find it hard to see, because where the drips are aren't necessarily where the leak is as I know water can trickle along pipes and drip elsewhere,  not necessarily where the actual leak is.

I might be completely wrong,  but I am wondering whether some newer spare parts are not quite identical to the older models?   Same as some old cars, or any machinery, can be difficult to get spares for now.

I can't tell you any more than that until they've been tomorrow.

Does everyone have these Combi Boilers  ?
Mine is a condensing boiler and is getting quite old now.

How old do you consider 'old'  Alex?
Mine is just on 18 years now, but never let me down until this winter.
And Yes,  mine is a Combi, too.

I was told that one way to check the life expectancy of my combo is to feel the insulation attached to its internal cover (when an engineer is there, thus having it orff (as it were...where's Mr G Wallace at times like this?)).

If it's not springy, the end is nigh. (d'oh, another one for Masterchef!!😬😬)

Sounds like I was half right and half wrong then - it is something they undid and didn't do up properly but is inside the boiler so probably out of bounds and certainly not something as simple as a loose coupling on one of the external pipes.
