Anyone got any ideas how I could make these awful orangey 1970s fashion doors lighter, without sanding or painting with gloss or satin paint ?

I would paint them.. I love painting furniture and bring old things back to life..

I have no idea how you can change the colour....
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

No good asking me because I think they are beautiful.

It occurred to me that you could cover them in lace curtains or just curtains, but I love the wood. I'd French polish it if I had one.

I like the colour too.  If you really don't like the colour, I'll take them off your hands (at a reasonable price of course), but I'd need to know the exact dimensions.
Seriously, though, with regard to polishing them, perhaps you could find a polish which would change their colour to your own liking?

Wallpaper them with wood chip.

Finally decided, looks like I missed a piece too

So, are you going to paint them..?

Looks good to me; a little darker than they were.

Why not "wrap" them (or whatever the term is)...like they do to cars?

Painting them ... not too dark ... will brighten up the room...

We had white doors like that between our sitting and dining rooms two houses ago.   I liked them, but they took ages to paint! I don't enjoy painting or any form of DIY.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
