Russian interviewee on tonight's ITV News "I can't talk about it, you never know where this recording will end up."

Today's ethnic UK resident "I can't post about it, you never know where this post will end up."

Oh how smug we were in the 1960s when we looked at cold war Russia & said England (yes we did say England back then & not Britain) will never be like this.

Only a matter of time before a Cold War scenario such as the Spy Who Came in from the Cold, or Bridge of Spies is the reality, with our own equivalent of Checkpont Charlie being in place to restrict access over Hammersmith Bridge, with Sadiq Khan's armed guards on the one side ready to shoot any English patriot who dares to show his/her head.

Scrumpy

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Dextrous63

Think we might need a better password than "mum" to get across that bridge (if it's actually still open as i recall it needing a lot of work doing to it to make it safe)

All of London needs a lot of work before I'd consider it safe to visit.

Alex

I heard on the radio yesterday that Singapore has warned citizens about travelling to London because of the crime.

Dextrous63

Makes one wonder what sort of people want to leave their countries and come and find a life in London.  Are they hoping to become bone fide criminals?

klondike

Easy pickings. Both benefits and victims. What's not to like?

Dextrous63

I recall looking at a Malthusian predator /prey model (based on fish population increase leading to shark population increase, which led to fish decrease which led to shark decrease, which allowed the fish population to recover, which led to.... Etc).

I wonder if criminals/victims populations will follow a similar model.

I have been to London several times.  To be honest, I can't imagine myself going back to Londonistan now...
unless I receive orders from Marge, of course.

I would never go back there, either.

I'd be kicking and screaming all the way if anyone tried to make me.

I'm a born and bred Londoner with a small number of relative who still live there.  The place doesn't frighten me, but other than for the increasingly rare visit, I have no real yearnings to go back there.

Mups

I was born down there too, Dex, but I've had no relatives still there for many years now.

We have no say in where we are born,  but I know  I am not a 'townie'  by nature.

I was very young when I left there,  and I loved the countryside from the very first day I moved here. I knew then,  that I could never go back to town life.

I have lived up here for over 50 years now, and the only thing that would make me move now, is if I moved to Cornwall.

What part of London were you from, Dex?

Dextrous63

Chiswick, West London.  How about you Mups?
