I'm still trying to understand the name.  I don't think that they've named it after a luxury perfume.

Raven

It's suppose to land early Monday morning, last around 24 hours. It's nice here too at the moment.

Dextrous63

I could understand calling it Florence...

Night-in-gale.  Geddit?

They used to use alphabetic names alternating male/female. I expect this one was chosen as it is of an inderminate nature as that seems that is the way our society is going these days.

Dextrous63

If alternating male/female, then that'd mean all male names would have to start with "even" (or odd, depending on what the first one was called) placed letters of the alphabet.

Anyway, it's a pity a bit more humour can't be used in the face of adversity.  Eg- the next storm could be called Storm Grandpa's Real Bone Cracker.

As they only name the really big storms those affected by them probably don't find them in the least amusing so I'm guessing they don't want complaints.

raining heavily when I first looked at around five thirty, still raining. No sign of the winds yet, but thet are forecast to arrive around ten and last into the evening varying from strong gale to storm, peaking around 57 mph. Most we have experienced here was 85 on the night that it was approaching 180 somewhere in the Highlands

Was completely calm and dry first thing. Slight breeze now. I'm hoping to get to shops and back before it starts raining.
We miss most of it here I think as we usually do for these Atlantic storms. Coming early this year though.

Raven

Getting windy now and it's very dark for the time of day. Took this in the car park about 15 minutes ago.
