Amazing. While we've been sitting here, Los Angeles in southern California has burned leaving large areas of the city razed to the ground and hundreds of thousands of people evacuated.

I heard today, that a man was arrested yesterday for trying to start another fire.   Unbelievable isn't it.

Last I heard was 10 people had been killed, and thousands of homes destroyed.  It was also said the fire was spreading at the rate of 5 football pitches per minute.
I wonder where the firefighters get such  huge amounts of water from?

They keep on about all the celebrities who have lost their homes,  and I'm sorry,  but  surely their homes are no more important than everyone else's are to them.  Most of them probably own several other properties to go to as well,  but I doubt the ordinary folks  do.

It is not only their properties,  but I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be to lost a life time's belonging, and personal things too.   Even simple things like photographs that can never be replaced.

I also fear for the animals, pets,  and wildlife,  but they rarely ever get a mention in tragedies.

Isn't it marvelous how the news tells us about the (stars) who have lost their homes..
Who gives a shit.. They are in a position to move elsewhere.. They usually have more than one home..
There are people there who have lost everything and probably their lives will never be the same..

What about the wildlife and the pets that are caught up in this misery.. That is the saddest thing of all because they do not understand..

Glad someone agrees with me,  thanks Scrumps.  :upvote:

I have never forgotten the Ozzie wild fires a while back,  and when everybody was scarpering,  there was a dog left behind when the owners buggered off.   But worst of all,  he was tied up on a tether in a garden!!     Can you imagine the fear and torture that dog must have gone through as the heat and flames got closer and closer.  Breaks my heart it does.

Oh No Mups I'd not heard about that, how bloody awful. If anything bad had happened here Dageus would have been leashed and kept beside me at all times. The Clydes.....Not sure how Dunc would have delt with them, but he would, even if it was taking them over to the ocean and the beach caves.

I remember the poor koala bears from fires in Australia, many with burns to their paws, but kind people were there to care for them.

As for the multi million dollar homes destroyed in the LA fires, sad yes, but as others have said the owners probably have 2nd homes to go to.

Yes, I remember those Koalas too, Alex.   It was awful to see them so burnt and bewildered, poor things.
Those who did manage to survive would have had all their food burnt to ash, and probably no drinking water.

To be honest, I've skim read the stuff about animal on here but can't read them fully as it's wayyyyy too upsetting to contemplate😳😢😢

What sort of monsters of our species live amongst us who have such a limited imagination and are unable to empathise?

I wonder if they will ever find out the cause of this inferno?  I mean,  its not like it's the height of a hot summer there, is it.

I would imagine that any evidence or clues would be long destroyed by the fire now.

Just a thought from reading another Thread, Could an EV in one of the garages out in LA have started the fires. Once it got outside and the strong winds caught it then it would spread quickly.

I came across this on Youtube. I don't know how true it is but don't doubt there is at least some truth in it. There is no smoke without fire after all
