It has just said on the late news that Scotland has a weather warning starting tonight,  for high winds, very heavy rain and then snow!

But thank God we are not getting it like the coast in Peru,  with 14ft waves apparently.

It is all being blamed on 'Climate Change,'  again.

I am not sure what to believe when climate change gets blamed for everything.
I remember much deeper snow when I was young, then we usually get here nowadays.

We are supposed to be getting  frost and very cold for New Years Day though, so best get your woolly ones ready.

Good idea.  If we get the cold spell they are talking about,  you might have to have matching drawers.

We don't have the severe winters that I remember as a child..
Our houses are much warmer now... and our clothes more suitable ....
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Who recalls...
Windows icing up on the inside?
Getting up before the fire was lit.
Roasting in front of the coals in the evening.
Chimney sweeping. My father did his own - somebody in the garden to report when the brush came out the top. The sheet up against the grate. The mess and swearing when something went wrong.
The arrival of the gas fire.
The first tiny TV with more "snow" than picture.

Something that our children never experienced

At the moment it's dry and icy outside, but a storm and snow is forecast for the next few days - so let's wait and see.

Climate change is real.  It does exist.
However, it is not happening because we burn coal and wood fires!
The climate has changed over millions of years and will continue to do so despite all of the pointless limitations the government tries to impose.

I completely agree, JBR.  As you say,  the climate has always gone through different phases and always will.  Ice ages,  changing Sea levels, the death of all the giant mammals etc.
- AND it was nothing to do with Gas boilers, too many cars on the roads, or cows trumping too much!

This is an interesting read -  well I thought so anyway.

Yes, very interesting and proof that we cannot prevent change.
Still, the government finds such wokery an effective means of threatening the voters!

I particularly liked this bit:

We think of the climate we enjoy today as normal, however the Earth's climates are always changing.
At times, Britain has been hot enough for hippos to live in Norfolk. At other times ice has covered the country for tens of thousands of years.

They did hold one advantage for me. I was about 70 years younger.

Hah.  Yes,  that's true for most of us I should think.

My 50+ kids were talking about walking home from school and sitting by the hot air vents, we had warm air central heating in that house, and they loved it.

My mum lined the edges of our single glazed windows with stick on foam draught excluder strips. We also had really heavy curtains on the bay window of the sitting room. East coast Scotland could get pretty cold.  I don't take our cosy house for granted.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Last year I bought a hoodie from Amazon (on Raven's recommendation) it's been so good I bought another one this winter in a different colour  :upvote:   I'd hate to go back to ice on the inside of the windows.
