Sorry Mups I didn't notice you'd put the model up.   Why not try the Argos site where you can put questions to the tech people.

or as Klondy just suggested, take it back to the shop there's bound to be some bright 17 year old behind the counter  😁

It does seem to me that it may not be sensitive enough for the low strength signals you have where you are. I had to put up an aerial for dab to work downstairs. It's easier now to just use a smart speaker though so if it was Argos you got it from just take it back. Anywhere else check their returns policy but just not working where you live should be good enough.

Thanks again Klondike.
I'll have to look in my green bin and see if the box is still clean and undamaged first.

The only user guide I can see online is an earlier model DAB not DAB+ which could easily be different so I can't do any "push this, thump there" suggestion. It does say that after scanning you should store the stations and it can only store 20. If you didn't store any then maybe that's why it isn't working.

It says DAB+ CD on the brochure.   So I don't know if that means DAB+?

I don't wish to sound ungrateful,  but I do wish he'd got me the Phillips I asked for,  but Argos don't seem to do them.

Anyway,  I can't think about it any more.  It's doing my head in.   Fed up.

Your user guide if it came in the box will be the right one. The problem I have is I can't see that one from here and it doesn't appear to be available online - only the older DAB one is available to me and it could be different - I may as well be telling you what is says about tuning my car radio as tell you what that one says.

I know,  but you've tried your best,  and I'm not much help am I.
Don't worry though,  its me.  I've always been useless with anything technical.

Yes,  but it was getting dark,  so I will fish it out in the morning and see if its clean and undamaged.
It will perhaps be alright, as its only paper and cardboard in that bin,  nothing wet or smelly.

At least its a good job I didn't cut it up like I usually do.

Ah well,  I'm off to bed to read my book now,  try and clear my head of technical stuff.

Mups

Salvaged the box out the dustbin today.
It looks clean, and is nice and dry,  so I will hang onto it for the time being,  just in case it has to go back.

My friend's husband took the darn thing away on Monday, along with the instruction booklet.
They will be calling in here tomorrow morning,  so I will then know if I have a useable radio or not.

If he is unable to do it too,  it will have to go back.   Can't be doing with all this any more.

klondike

It might work where he lives but not where you live if the problem is a poor signal.

Oh well,  I'll know in the morning, ey.

To be honest,  I am fed up with it all now.   I have never head these problems with other models in the past,  which makes me lean more towards it being a faulty appliance.

I'll let you know the outcome in the morning  -   unless you're sick to death of hearing about it too.

klondike

I'll be interested to find out. As I said I had to put up an external aerial for one here but that was a long time ago. Many car radios are DAB these days and they seem to work OK.

Yes, please do broadcast the outcome 😉

Oh pipe down you.  :nooo:

At least I'm not in love with Azz.
