Gosh,  that is frightening.

No doubt  the community will then close ranks so the culprit will never been found.

Where do the cops go from here, I wonder?

That does appear to be the new government's aim.

It started to go downhill with our police 'force' when they started recruiting university types.  British police seem so 'soft' compared to their German and French counterparts.   I saw a clip yesterday where a man was arrested in the street and the police officers were running around trying to get him a cigarette -  ffs !!!!!

It would seem that those who are employed to protect us..
Need protecting...

I'm sure you are completely correct.  The Conservatives by doing nothing, and now Starmer by doing everything he possibly can, will before long begin the landslide of this country into a muslim third-world country.
The rich British are emigrating, and who can blame them?
The older people, like us, can do nothing other than begin to live in fear as the young criminals take over.

Yes, this is exactly the situation today.  It all started when someone decided that the police should be run by 'highly intelligent' university graduates who, despite their 'qualifications', completely lack any common sense.

As I have said before, we are I believe the only country which does not routinely arm our police, and having done so and one has necessarily used his gun, he has been sent to court, named, then released only to have to go into permanent hiding whilst our criminal fraternity are encouraged by the offer of £1000 to find and kill him.

Cops are not cops anymore, they get paid to cruise about in their nice warm top of the range 4x4s looking official. That's when they're not hiding in the bushes with a speed gun looking for motorists to land a ticket on.......Useless just useless.

What about this then -  in today's paper there was an article about a farmer in Lancashire who caught two lads allegedly trespassing on his land.
He jumped off his quad bike, tackled them and managed to tie them up,  then bundled them onto his quad bike and carted them off to the Police station.

But when he arrived there,   the farmer found he was quizzed under caution  on suspicion of false imprisonment and assault.
He is now on bail.

The lads version was they had been riding an electric bike in the fields, but when  they went to leave, they found the farmer had locked the field gate,  so they had to leave the bike there.
Next day they went back for it, but it had gone.   The farmer spotted them,  jumped off his quad bike, wrestled them to the ground,  tied their hands and took them to the police.

I don't doubt for a moment that there is more to this than we know.
For all we know, the farmer might have been sick of yobs riding through his crops,  causing damage, frightening livestock, or perhaps even knicking stuff,  so when he saw these two, he grabbed them.

I wonder what the outcome will be?

Fair to say that the lads (17 and 20 year olds) won't be prosecuted for trespass nor criminal damage.

He must have been intimidating to overcome two grown boys .
Wonder how he would deal with a bunch of pie keys ?
Were they actually doing any harm ?
There is no real law against trespass in the U.K. it's not considered a criminal unless there is some  damage .

I agree it sounds a bit odd,  that's why I said there's perhaps more to it than reported.
For all we know he might have had previous trouble from local youths, or pikeys,   dunno.
I agree it does seem odd how one man was able to tie up two people though.

If they found the farm gate locked though,   I wonder how they got in there in the first place?

This was the story as reported:

Regarding laws on trespass,  I found this:

"All land in the UK belongs to someone. If you go on to land without the owner's permission, you are trespassing unless there is some right of access for the public, or for you specifically (for example, if you have acquired a right to pass over the land to reach some land of your own").

I am aware of the laws of trespass, but somehow I don't think the police would be interested in the slightest, especially 'today's modern police'.

Nevertheless, I'd be very annoyed if someone decided to trespass in my garden or especially in my house.  I'm sure that the police should at least attend, and if there is any damage they might even... possibly... arrest the trespassers... especially if they are white!

I think I'd have avoided the personal touch. I'd just have used my farm kit to bury their quad bike when I found it. If asked I'd have denied all knowledge of it.

Police statement on trespassing

'Trespassing is not classed as a criminal offence. In most cases, this is not a matter for the police. We'd recommend the first thing to do would be to talk to the people occupying your land and ask them to leave, if you feel safe to do that.
If they refuse to leave or you feel unsure, contact your local council for advice.
You could find yourself guilty of several criminal offences if you forcibly attempt to remove them or their property.
The best and safest course of action may be to get a court order to evict them. If the court order is breached, it could become a criminal matter.
If you're aware of something that might be a crime or antisocial behaviour, then report it to us.'

We have no idea how much damage these two lads had done to the field, whether there were any crops damaged (which would be income for the farmer), animals scared etc.
