I must be odd, I don't mind spiders.  We don't kill them, we catch them in an upturned plastic pot then slide a bit of card underneath, then they are let out down the garden.  I have some horse chestnuts in little dishes on the window ledge, they're supposed to be a deterrent, and we don't get many indoors.

Funny you should say that, Granny because I've done that for years.  In fact I went to find some this very morning when I took the dogs down the park.
I still get Spiders though! 
Mind you,  maybe I would get twice as many if I didn't set my conkers out on the window sills.

Conkers are a bit like those slug pellets. Must be OK for some but I'm just not good enough at throwing to get either to work
