I agree.  It has become rather quiet here lately.

I'm also wondering what has happened to Cassandra.  I found his posts interesting and well-written, but I haven't seen anything from him for a long time now.  Does anyone know?

Probably because of too much doom and gloom.
Killings, wars, dying, starvation, Trump, etc.

We see more than enough of that  all the time on the TV, radio, and newspapers every day.

I think forums go quiet in the summer time.. People get out and travel...
No rain here.. Alexa tells me there is.. Can't trust her..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

It had been raining when I got up but has stopped now. My weather forecast apps are showing the chance of rain but it doesn't look like it will here to me. Trouble is the clay ground I go to on Wednesdays is nearly 20 miles away and it could be different there. I'll take my chances though.

Klondy ... re Cass.  I assume that you have his email address.  Would be an abuse of trust for you to use it and message him to let him know we're asking after him?

I think Scrumpy is correct, all forums go quiet during summer months.   As to the subjects of posts, I think if we did only post about the weather, gardening, ailments etc. and I include myself here, then we'd possibly lose more members !   I am interested in hearing what other people have to say on today's news, even if it is 'doom and gloom'  That's what I miss about not working, being able to discuss what's happening in our world.

When I meet my friends at the pub for lunch, we talk about the weather, family, ailments and old times, we rarely discuss current events - except perhaps to share the latest Starmer joke

I think that would be a good idea.  It could be that he may have lost interest in the forum, and such a message could instil a welcome response.
Of course, I sincerely hope that he is alive and well.

We are the same.. I never discuss politics with my family.. I wouldn't stand a chance .. or get a word in.. I am the only one who (likes) Trump..  They do talk of him but I never take the bait..

Having coffee with my mates is like being in a bloody medical centre..

I do have it but have never used any of those emails in situations like this. I have always tried to persuade someone who already had an email to make contact. Cass never gave me his email. He simply used it to register here and I don't feel happy using any of the information I may see from being admin here. I have occasionally emailed anybody that flounced if I thought it would do any good. I don't think it ever did and I don't think I'll repeat that.

Alex

Scrumpy and myself are in touch with him by e-mail, as I said I sent a message on Sunday and he hasn't responded.  I'm hoping he's away because he was always prompt in replying.  It's worrying, maybe Scrumpy has email for his family ?

I expect you're right, Alex.    Makes sense.
We probably spend more time outside or going places in the summer,  rather than being stuck indoors week after week like in the winter.

Ocado's just been,  and I've got all my frozen packed away.
That's my excitement done for today.

Off to send the probate application recorded delivery, then drop some stuff off at the charity shop, then put some chemicals in my MiL's oven so it can soak in and I'll wipe it off tomorrow when the BHF comes to pick up her furniture.

Will also get our car cleaned.

Just so busy😬

Yes,  always so much to sort out after a family bereavement, Dex,  but you'll get there, and at least you have your wife to talk to.

I remember what it was like when my Mum went.  Fortunately, Mum's solicitor did all the legal stuff,  but on my own I still had the funeral, undertaker, burial and headstone to sort, along with her big old house and contents,  estate agents,  solicitors and insurances,  etc.

Then there was one nightmare family member trying every trick in the book to get Mum's house keys off me so as he could nick as many of Mum's belongings as he could!    I could certainly have done without all those arguments on top of everything else.    I was worn to a shred.
