Tis a miracle of Jesus

On Monday I had a reminder to renew my driving licence.
I did it online in the afternoon, cut my old licence up and posted it but too late for last post.
Today my replacement licence arrived.

Royal Mail and DVLC both apparently working correctly.
Where is the swoon emoli when I need it.
Added a shocked

Today we retrieved the will, sorted some stuff with the bank and began filling in probate application online.

good luck with that. It took the idiots 12 weeks to say they weren't happy at how Sheila's will had been witnessed and finally took from April to November to pass it - and I understand that they are getting worse!

I've been through the process several times now. Took ages and cost money for no obvious reason but it was all smooth enough.

With one I had to go to the court but I think the rest I didn't. Anyway when I went there was a security check before going to the office to get done whatever it was needed doing. My keychain had a tiny pocket knife with a small pair of scissors which was the main reason I had it as I hate broken nails. This highly offensive item had to be kept securely by the guard until I went out again.

I don't understand this probate malarkey, I made a will online a few years ago no need for expensive solicitors I thought as there's just one son, one house and not a lorra money..... I hope when I kick the bucket my lad doesn't have problems.

I've come upstairs to calm down, no idea what my heart rate must be but I was clearing out under the stairs ready for new flooring and the biggest spider I've ever seen in my life appeared in front of me.  I tried several times to bash it with a piece of wood, which was brave of me as I usually just run.  Anyway the buggar escaped so project abandoned, my lad will have to finish it.      I've put the piece of wood across the door incase it tries to crawl out, another jittery night on the cards....

Some organisations require probate before releasing the funds or whatever to the executors when the value exceeds whatever amount they have set in their rules. If there is a house involved then you'll be caught for sure.  Premium bonds and bank balances etc.  depending how much.

I suspect the reason is to make sure death duties aren't being avoided so maybe the amounts aren't arbitrary but dictated by government rules.

My MiL's financial affairs were pretty simple...all monies were in accounts in one bank, she owned one flat, and we'll price up some jewellery and Waterford crystals over the next couple of days (which is OTT, but at least it shows a bit of due diligence), all of which will not take things into the realms of IHT.

Scattering her ashes this afternoon.
Then, at last, Mrs Dex can grieve (if needed) after the furore of the last few months/years of caring, worrying, and sorting out funeral etc, and begin to reinvent herself.  New beginnings, new beginnings.

clearly a time of trauma for her

Morning all,    and a nice sunny one it is.

I am going out to lunch today with an old friend.  She is having a tough time at the mo, and I thought it might cheer her up to go out and have a good natter over a bite to eat.

Just done a load of washing, so best get that pegged out before I go.
See ya laters.

I've got my grand-dogs today as my gang has gone to a wedding in Yorkshire.  It's the first time they've stayed overnight so not sure how this will go.    They're Beagles and a couple of characters, they don't seem to like the 'suspect' neighbours I've now got !

It looks like rain, but very close here.

Hopefully very soon.  She's had some medical work done on her toes which means she can't get them wet for a bit.  Once given the all clear, we're off to sun, sand, sea etc.

In the meantime, we hope to get away for a day or two.  Although one of her dearest friend's octogenarian mothers has fallen gravely ill, which means she has to make a visit imminently.

Dreary, grey, and drizzly here,  but I am glad it's cooled down again.
I am sure I saw my garden plants smiling.

I had a glorious long, long sleep last night,  Bliss.
