Ooer,  just seen a warning about these coming storms tonight and tomorrow,  telling us not to use our landlines or mobiles and to unplug any uneccessary electric equipment.

I usually do this anyway,  but never seen a warning about it before.  Bit scary . . .

Alex

My Dad always unplugged the telly    I tend not to bother, unless lightning is bad :hmm:

When my mum had her first TV she used to cover it with a pretty cloth overnight..
During a storm she would never wear clips in her hair.. and never, ever stand at the sink washing-up.. Such innocent times...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

They didn't have tinfoil back then so couldn't make the protective hats we all rely on...

If a storm is nearby,  I unplug the telly, landline, and computer.

I remember my Mum used to drape a cloth over the wall mirror in the living room, too.
Memories ey . .

My mum used to switch everything off, remove the plugs, and switch off the sockets because she said, ' the electricity might dribble out' Having had gas, lights etc previously in our home in Wales I could understand her thinking.

klondike

Bit more of an issue if the gas dribbles out.

Lovely morning here. Off to the pool in a wee while, then hopefully sitting in the gardens enjoying the sun later.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Lovely morning here so far too,  really warm.

Just making some Bolognaise sauce for the freezer,  then once that's packed away I am off to the hairdressers to have my hi-lights redone, and a light trim.
After that . . . who knows.

Oh joy.

Had the refund for that radiator from Toolstation that their courier had me waiting in all day for on Wednesday while they took ii on a sightseeing tour of Aberdeen. They had told DX to cancel the delivery and return it to them. Ordered another from Wickes in the hope that their courier has a clue. That's coming Monday.

Just got out of the shower and was getting dried when the doorbell went. Grabbed a dressing gown, down the stairs, opened the door and... take a guess what was in the porchway.

Is it the new one arrived early? No of course not it's from DX who have sent an email saying they are delivering today.

Phoned Toolstation. Told them their radiator is in the front garden and it's up to them what they do as I'm not waiting in for DX again and if their package gets stolen by the pikies that's their problem.

Good God,  what a pallaver.   And what incompetence.

No doubt you stayed calm, and serene,  and never swore once.

We all need a little excitement in our lives. I certainly won't stop shopping with Toolstation but I won't be getting anything delivered from them again.

Why does the doorbell ring when you have just stepped out of the shower or just sat on the loo seat.. ?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

Parcel deliveries are timed to coincide with a trip to the loo

I have often asked exactly the same, Scrumpy!

I didn't hear any storm at all here last night,  but  the heat was awful.
I unplugged my phone and telly when I went to bed, just incase.
There is a lovely cool breeze this morning.

I have just bathed the two dogs - much to their disgust -   ready for clipping later,  but first I want to get some washing done, and some more jobs outside.
