General Discussion / Re: Defence Cuts
Last post by Mups - Today at 03:01:00 PM
Quote from: JBR on Today at 02:14:42 PMOn our own, I very much doubt it.  Our forces have been cut so much now, both in manpower and especially in hardware, we are weaker now than for a very long time.
The only aspect of our defence is that the few forces we still have are still trained to the highest degree, certainly compared to most other countries.

Exactly.    So if you were a baddie hellbent on destroying us,  wouldn't you choose a time when the country was at its most vulnerable?   I know I would.

I think we need to be very,  very careful how much we are aiding others now.

If Putin really loses it, and starts attacking us,  or anybody else attacks us,  will we have enough weapons and manpower left to fight with?
I find it scary stuff.

Yes

Quote from: klondike on Today at 09:36:02 AMClearly Labour don't think farmers are "working people". They should be going out in the countryside more.

If they do they will find the farmers easily .
They are the ones swanning about in big defenders and wax jackets .
( at least where I live )
There must be some poor farmers in other parts of the country .

King Charles owns vast acres  of farmland of course he pays no IHT and nor will William when he inherits it .
To those who have will be given more

Quote from: dextrous63 on Yesterday at 10:03:56 AMCost me 200 Thailand bhat and "her" name was Steve.  Well, you can't have everything I guess😬😬😬😉
Or you can have too much! ☺️

I got a nice sparkly dress for £8.50, tags still on!  Not from the shop where I volunteer though.  I never seem to have time to look when I'm there.  I've bought a few bits of clothing, as I've lost weight.  Some good bargains around.

Beautiful but nippy here.  Out this morning to shops etc, home made soup for lunch, feet up, heating on now, book at the ready.

Well done one the 9 Mac. I couldn't see a start and made it easy on myself by using unused letters so dropping a turn.
I do that sometimes, i have a third, vowelless word.  Don't use it on rescue as a rule though.

I see we got the same word wrong on Quordle. ☺️

Quote from: dextrous63 on Yesterday at 10:52:29 PMI only do the lotteries to help good causes.

How does anyone really know what percentage of the donated money ever gets spent on the actual
cause we hoped for?

-1 today at breakfast time.  That's just 1 degree warmer than yesterday, here.   Think I should put me shorts on.

But at least the sun is out and its a beautiful blue sky.   That never seems quite as bad to me as cold with those depressing grey skys.

The off licence had a queue at the door
There was a broken bottle on the floor
Everyone was given a drinking straw 'Free'
And a rubber mat to put under their knee
Until they all wanted no more.
