I loved Auf Weidersehn Pet!  Kevin Whateley was in Morse and Peak Practice.  My claim to fame - I was an extra for one episode of that.   

Another memorable series of the time was Alan Bleasdale's the Boys from the Blackstuff.  Only five episodes, but Bernard Hill as Yosser was memorable.
