Nothing wrong with the Middle East forum .
For the uninitiated it is an American conservative  foreign policy think tank that promotes American interests and Western values in the Middle East.
Its aims include ,to defeat radical Islam, contain Iran and achieve Palestinian acceptance of Israel

Naturally it has opposition from certain parties who fall back on calling it extremism and Islamophobic .
( we should all be afraid of Islam it's dangerous )

Of course the MEF defends western values .

What is wrong with that ?

You don't see the anomaly?

that promotes American interests and Western values in the Middle East.

Here's another thought .... think also how it brings out patriotism over here over with
.... anything that promotes Muslim interests or values in the Western world.

Oh the hypocrisy.

Quote from: Alex on Today at 11:21:14 AMWhich US based pro Israel organisation might that be ?

Nothing  wrong with being pro Israel ,the only viable democracy in the Middle East .
A country that shares our values and regard for human life .

Most of those who obsessively criticise  Israel are not genuine humanitarians (  else they would be ranting about the Sudan , Nigeria and the many other parts of the world where real atrocities are committed )
The keyffiah cult is just a manifestation of antisemitism using the modern excuse anti Zionism.

Anyway what has this to do with Daniel Tommo and OUR open borders ?

Absolutely nothing at all.

morty

Correct. there isn't anything wrong with supporting Israel or it's policies if one believes in illegal land grab and the slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent women and children.... because they are not Jewish.

In that case Israel's results and success are to be applauded and admired.

But there was a need to establish who was backing and financing Danny Tommo and that has now been satisfactorily done.

Allegations and formal findings regarding Israeli war crimes involve accusations by international bodies, courts, and human rights groups concerning military actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. [1, 2]

United Nations Findings
  • Targeting Children and Infrastructure: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry reported that Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children, leading to findings of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. [1]
  • Lebanon Bombardment: UN experts and Lebanese officials stated that large-scale Israeli bombings in Lebanon lacked military targets and constituted unlawful, indiscriminate aggression. [1]
  • Blockade and Starvation: The UN documented the use of siege conditions, destruction of water and health facilities, and restricted aid as methods of warfare causing severe famine. [
    ]

International Courts
  • International Criminal Court (ICC): The ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over alleged war crimes, including using starvation as a weapon and intentionally directing attacks against civilians. [1]
  • International Court of Justice (ICJ): The ICJ ruled it plausible that Israel violated the Genocide Convention in a case brought by South Africa, ordering provisional measures to prevent genocidal acts. [1]

It all makes pitiful reading.
Yes ... Israelis' have suffered too but the price they exact in revenge shows a brutality inhumanity that is abhorrent.
Thing is I don't the Israeli's will ever stop their persecution .

Quote from: Alex on Yesterday at 09:16:48 PMPeople might not agree with Danny Tommo and some may think his actions were completely uncalled for but why is bail being refused over a charge of criminal damage?  Is this really proportionate?
If there are concerns about risk, surely strict bail conditions could be imposed curfew, electronic monitoring, reporting requirements or restrictions rather than keeping someone on remand until a trial provisionally listed for March 2027.
He has not been convicted of anything.
So what exactly makes this charge serious enough to justify keeping him in custody for months?

Just bumping up the original topic which is being systematically derailed .

morty

Well it was you who detoured into telling us all what a great democracy Israel is. But hey ho whatever you want.

It does seem however that thesdays a great many figures in the public eye whether they be vigilantes, agitators or political figures, or even ..dare I say, leaders of political parties ..... all seem to have the behind the scenes backing and bankrolling of hidden pupeteers.
It's a sobering thought that our thinking should be so skilfully manipulated.

Let's not forget that those on those dinghies have also had their thinking manipulated in some way (directly or inadvertently) to the extent that they want to up-sticks and make their way to lands anew, possibly getting involved in danger or criminality along the way.

Which brings us back to the unfortunate situation in which there are a small number of people who feel that their only resolve is to fight this by themselves acting criminally.

Agreed, but that doesn't make Tommo the Chosen One.

How do you know have you spoken to any of them ?

As they are all suposed to be impoverished refugees from desperate countries
( well just looking at the riots there this week France isn't what it used to be )

How do they afford to pay the people smugglers ?

Answer they don't .
Someone probably Qatar is paying for this invasion .

Unless he can, indeed, walk upon water and feed the several thousand on the beaches of Calais with a cod n chips and half a tin of red bull.

In the whole, people don't just happen to sit round at home and have a totally random thought of "what shall I do today?  I know, I'm going to make my way over England and live happily ever after."

Somewhere along the line, the idea must have been fed to them.

muddy

So you have never spoken to one ?

You are living in a tin shack in some fly blown cesspit and someone offers you the price of a trip to the land of milk and honey where everything will be given to you .

What's not to like ?
