Used to listen to the programme years ago – don't know if it is still broadcast, but fell to wondering what my selection of eight pieces of music would be. In no particular order

Rodrigo's Concierto de Arunjuez by Julian Bream
Unchained melody – I think the version by the Righteous Brothers 
Annie's song – John Denver
Hallelujah Chorus
Jimmy Giuffre's The Train and the River
Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor – an organ version
Jimmy Young – 'Too Young' to remind me of mum – her favourite number
Where Have All the Flowers gone – Joan Baez

In the programme folk were also asked for a favourite book over and above the Bible and Shakespeare. Wouldn't bother with those. One book? John Steinbeck's 'Once there was a war'
