My son told me about this yesterday .
He is an army reservist and thought he was safe from being recalled but now they have put the age up to 55 and apparently in 2027 it will go up to 65 .

What does this tell us ?
Is there going to have a war ?

It's cheaper than equipping the Armed Forces with the equipment they need. It's just numbers,..look at us our Army, Navy andRAF are really huge. The fact we don't have the right equipment for them is irrelevant

The only reason for this disturbing situation of our armed forces today is a succession of incompetent governments of both so-called 'main parties'.

From what I can see, the problem originated with Bliar and then Brown.  Later on, we can thank Boris for a great increase in illegal invaders, which has now been exceeded even further by the present Labour government with a recent history of two totally incompetent prime ministers.

I suppose we do, if some suggestions are true.  One being that many of our young people these days are not interested in working (I'm talking about white British), or perhaps even joining up.  The unfortunate thing for them is that in the not-too-distant future the country will become bankrupt and monetary handouts will dry up, even for the illegal immigrants!

The image in my mind is 'broken third-world Britain', though hopefully Reform could rescue us.

Apart from the wars on Iraq I think we've only been involved in our own conflicts and those in support of the US's NATO Article 5 request for assistance in Afghanistan in response to the Al Queda attack on the World Trade Center. We do get involved in training foreign armies but to the best of my knowledge we've only got involved in those that weren't our direct actions. Special Forces may get other jobs but we don't usually get told about those.

Interesting, and encouraging having heard so much about our armed forces being reduced in number.  Perhaps we still have a good number and, regardless of numbers, I am sure that they will be among the best in the world.
