I suspect that war horses were not that big .
But compact and strong with plenty of bone
Usually  native sturdy breeds and Spanish horses re known for their sturdiness and spirit .
Henry the VIII actually made a law against ponies as he wished to encourage the use and breeding of bigger horses ( especially for war)
In the film Robin Hood with Russell Crowe most of the horses used their are PRE ( Pura  Rasa Espaniol  ) Andulusian or other Iberian breeds .
These would have been similar to the war horses of the day

klondike

Russian war horses seem to be donkeys these days

Scrumpy

I feel so sad for the donkeys.. They work hard and then drop..
Little respect for them.. as they are easily replaced..

In another world I would be a wealthy landowner surrounded by these sad gentle creatures..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..
