RIP. He may be gone but that one song of his is going to last a long while to come.

Odd how there are loads of old Christmas songs that really live on. I looked it up and White Christmas is a lot older than me but still gets some plays. I heard the Pogues Fairy Tale of New York on the car radio the other day which always reminds me of Kirsty McCall's horrific demise.

Her's and Chris Rea's were bothy bad from what I read of his. I don't really keep track of anything but the major news stories so I didn't even know he was ill.

I have always liked his music and him after meeting him. I was on a flight back from Dublin the morning after a heavy night before. This was when you could smoke on board and in the back row of business class. I walked on looking like death warmed up. He walked down the same aisle and sat in window seat opposite me. He looked a lot worse. There was no one in the aisle seats and we looked across and nodded hello. The trolley dolly came along and offered a fried breakfast. We both declined and just had coffee.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

Poor man.   He had a lot of serious health problems apparently.

He did some good songs back in the day.

RIP

I only remember him from the one song.. I didn't even know what he looked like..
Then I saw him on the TV last night.. What a gentle person he was... Lovely voice..

My favourite Christmas song is  Fairytale of NewYork.. The volume goes up when this is playing..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

He is one of very few people ( that I know of ) to have survived pancreatic cancer and so long ago too.
