Scrumpy

My balance has been a bit off..
Doctor prescribed a nasal spray (Steroid)..
One of my ears was blocked..and needed (unblocking).
I had this done privately because the wait was too long at the doctors..
The spray has made little difference to the symptoms I was experiencing..
Salty leaking at back of throat.. Worse during the night when laying down.. Horrible..
I feel the next step is ENT check....
I have had balance problems for some time now..
My fault... I should have seen the doctor a couple of years back. But..
If they can help I will be 'over the moon'...
Has anyone on here experienced these symptoms and had successful treatment ?
I would be interested to hear about it.. Thank you.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I'll answer just to say I've seen the thread. Never had anything like that - sounds nasty and I hope you can get sorted.

Blimey Scrumps,  that sounds like me talking!

I have had these awful dizzy turns for about 4 years now, and it is really scary.  Mine doesn't seem to be my sinus though,  but it has made me go deaf on one side,  and that unbalances us too.
The first time it happened was just 24 hrs after I had that darn  Aztra Zeneca vaccine,  and I got carted away by ambulance.
It has happened every now and then ever since.

I sympathise with you so much.  I don't know about you,  but it can last for several hours on a bad one and it is really horrible when you are by yourself isn't it.    Can't focus,  can't balance,  can't walk - nothing.

I actually went to ENT only yesterday,  but she was not much help.  Just did those tests where they lay you down suddenly, then sit back up,  then twists your neck and lays you down quickly again etc.
She then made me walk toe to heel in a straight line,  and that was about it!
No diagnosis,  but she is sending me for a head/ear scan  sometime in the future.   I have had a head scan before,  but it didn't show anything wrong.
They make me feel like I am making it up sometimes,  but its not my fault they can't diagnose, is it.

I do wish you all the best Scrumps,  and look after yourself won't you.    x

The doctor thinks mine is sinus problems.. This will affect my balance..
Also I have nasty Sciatica.. This can affect my balance sometimes because of (silly) feet..

I have, over the years , told myself how I MUST put my feet down properly and be confident that I will NOT trip over..  It has worked.. I walk on uneven ground.. over fallen leaves and tell myself that there is NOT a sink hole beneath them.. :nooo:

I do 30mins a day on my step machine.. Crabby recommended it a while back..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Have you tried any 'natural' remedies Scrumps ?

Dextrous63

Nasal rinse (net pot) sometimes helps.  I once used a garlic solution to try and flush out a sinus infection that had been going on for a few weeks.  Stung a bit, but did the job.

Just taken my daughter to the GP as she's got a recurring sore throat/headache/sinus infection and nothing over the counter was helping.  He's given her some antibiotics.  Touch wood.

A sinus infection she had a few years back caused a prolonged headache, double vision (and a term off uni!!), and led to a blood clot in her brain and warfarin for several months. Hence why we felt it wise to get to the gp asap to preempt the chance of it recurring.

I had an inner ear issue that gave me vertigo. Horrible. But it cleared with medication and never returned. Touch wood.

I sympathise Scrumpy, I can't shake the recurring nausea that I've had since leaving hospital.

That sounds rotten for your daughter Dex. No wonder you're taking swift action.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
