Man sent to France under 'one in, one out' scheme returns to UK on small boat
Exclusive: Asylum seeker says he made second crossing because he did not feel safe in France
A man sent back to France under the "one in, one out" scheme has returned to the UK on a small boat, the Guardian has learned.
The man, who wants to claim asylum in the UK, and has spoken to the Guardian since coming back, is being held in a UK immigration detention centre and claims to be a victim of modern slavery at the hands of smugglers in northern France.

Home Office sources have confirmed that one person sent to France under the UK-France treaty – which allows people who cross the Channel to Britain in small boats to be sent back in exchange for bringing the same number in France to the UK via a legal route – is now in the UK.

What a hoot.  Like queuing up for the same ride at Alton Towers.

Here's an idea...drop the fella off in a country far far away.  Or, find the alleged crooks that are tying to enslave him, and drop them off in an ocean.

There used to be a TV programme calked 'The Comedians'.  😬
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I think my title was a Bruce Forsythe catchphrase in a game show. Forget which though as there were so many.

I'm reminded of a line from Steptoe and Son in an episode called "The Wages of Sin", where Harold has lost a lot of money playing cards with a group of friends, but Albert joins the game and wins very convincingly. It turns out that with the spectacles he was wearing, Albert could see what the cards were from the back.

Now you may ask what this has to do with sending illegal migrants back to France. While the Steptoes were discussing the morality of using trick cards to win money from their friends, albert explained - he didn't only win back what Harold had lost:

"This way we get theirs as well."

and that pretty well sums up Starmer's agreement with the French.

Quite.

Google translate suggests that this is what Marie Antoinette (remember her? Lammy swears she's the Nobel prize winner for her work on radiation and something else) might say...

qu'ils aient le beurre et l'argent du beurre

Ironically, or perhaps not, he said it on the generation game when they'd remembered a load of things on the conveyor belt.

It is indeed an appropriate title!!
