Quote from: Alex on October 26, 2025, 04:18:07 PMThis is such a boring topic, the man may be a war hero but he's also a bit thick, judging by the TV interview he gave.  I wish the media would find someone else to write about now.
My view exactly.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Mind you this thread stretched to 7 pages

I also agree but the media will wring every drop of blood they can out of it.  :boo:

Not heard much about Harry and Meghan lately.  Any news, anyone? 😬

Raven

No, and I hope it stays that way.

Good job I'm not a moderator - I wouldn't be allowing wind ups like that

So true.

I'm fed up to the teeth with hearing about him now,  but some people won't stop till they get blood.

I think some of you are overlooking the importance of Andy-t'lad having the bailiffs sent round and being evicted.

Taxpayers' money may be saved and directed to better causes, such as that runway in Pakistan that needs building to enable quicker flights to and from the UK.

Can't stand the entitled AH and his greedy trollop of a ex wife .
They and their daughters have leeched public money for decades .
I would see them all in the gutter .
But as they have plenty of money ( they just don't like spending it ) - the plebs taxes are for that surely ?
This is not likely to happen .

As it happens neither he nor his family get taxpayer funding now according to ChatGPT....

From an initial question...
Other family members: His ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, does not receive taxpayer money directly. Other members of the royal family only receive taxpayer funds if they carry out official duties.

And a follow on giving more and as it happens corrected detail...

Yes, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has historically received taxpayer-funded security, though the situation has evolved over time.
🔐 Taxpayer-Funded Security
As a senior member of the royal family, Prince Andrew was entitled to taxpayer-funded police protection. However, following his stepping back from public duties in 2019 and the subsequent controversies, including his association with Jeffrey Epstein, there have been significant changes. In late 2022, King Charles III decided to cease funding Andrew's security, reportedly due to the high costs associated with providing such protection. This decision was made after Andrew lost his official royal duties and titles. Wikipedia
Despite the withdrawal of public funding, Andrew continued to receive private security arrangements. Reports indicate that King Charles III personally funded Andrew's security at Royal Lodge, with costs estimated to be around £3 million annually. However, in late 2024, King Charles also decided to halt this private funding, leaving Andrew to bear the full cost of his security arrangements. People.com
🏠 Royal Lodge and Maintenance Costs
Prince Andrew resides at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, a property leased from the Crown Estate. The lease, granted in 2003, includes the main lodge, several cottages, and surrounding land. Andrew invested approximately £7.5 million in refurbishments. The lease agreement required him to undertake these refurbishments at his own expense. Wikipedia
The maintenance and upkeep of the property are substantial. Annual costs for gardening and general maintenance are reported to be significant, and the property requires ongoing attention to preserve its condition. The Daily Telegraph
💰 Financial Challenges
Following the cessation of public and private funding, Prince Andrew faces financial challenges in maintaining his lifestyle and property. Reports suggest that he has sought alternative sources of income, including private investments and financial backers. However, the details and legitimacy of these funding sources have been subjects of scrutiny and controversy. New York Post
🧾 Summary

Security: Initially funded by taxpayers, then by King Charles III, and now privately by Prince Andrew.

Royal Lodge: Leased property with substantial maintenance costs, funded by Prince Andrew.

Financial Support: Previously received public and private funding; currently seeking alternative financial sources.

In conclusion, while Prince Andrew no longer receives taxpayer-funded security or allowances, he continues to incur significant costs associated with his security and property maintenance. The cessation of public and private funding has placed financial strain on him, leading to ongoing scrutiny of his financial arrangements.

You want to try getting AI to write Home Assistant automations. It makes a balls up which you point out and upload its own code to show it where then it witters on about how badly it was coded and produces something else that doesn't work.

I have a cheap sub with https://t3.chat/ and my latest project using that has chewed right through my allowed 1,000 monthly questions early. It did offer me 100 more for $8 but I'll wait till my sub renews and use freebies like ChatGPT until it does. What I have got from it sort of works but there are a number of pratfalls that I've spotted which really need sorting out. I'm not  going to do it myself as the language used (YAML) is absolutely horrible and I CBA learning it.
