Mups

I wonder if supplements really do any good or not?
I do believe it can depend on the brand,  I suspect some might be better than others,  but don't know enough about it.    Naturally, all the brands will tell us  theirs are the best of course.

So does anyone take any supplements,  like perhaps Fish Oils in winter,  or a Multi-Vit, or Pro-Biotics, etc?

Do you think they help you,  or  are they just a pure waste of money?

Raven

Yes I take a few specific ones and they have helped me. I take 2 biotin a day to help my hair thicken up again, it started after my fall doc said my hair was thinning because of the trauma I went through.
I also take a high strength Glucosamine Sulphate, one a day for my knee joints, started taking them while I was still teaching Linedance they helped a lot and I still take them. I used to also give one a day to my OES Daniel as he had arthritis in his legs, they helped him too.
Doc gave me Vitamin D tablets when I started the bone tablets for my brittle bone disease after my bad fall, don't know if they do anything or not but I've to stay on them.

I take cod liver oil, which has definitely helped aging knees. Also take, on medical advice, vitamin b1 and b12, and on my own advice vitamin D

It's the old question. Whilst I haven't seen any marked improvement, might not taking them make me worse?

It's a strange thing how such a small ( micro) dose of something can have such a macro effect.  I take a sertralin tablet every other day to help stave off depression/anxiety.  If I forget for a few days then I feel dizzy/ disoriented and sad.

So, in response to your question Mups, I have no doubt whatsoever that supplements do something.  Whether they're beneficial or not is, I guess, down to personal health and requirements.

My way is a drive along the coast to Strathy Bay, clamber up onto my favourite big rock and relax while the fierce waves crash around me. Dageus used to like sitting up there too.

Sorry to bring it up, but what did you do with Dageus when he passed?  Bury? Cremate? Other?

Raven

I had the vet come to the house to do the deed, then they took him away to be cremated. I wanted him to be on the sofa all comfy on his blanket with me right beside him.

Best way for both of you

B12 injections every three months, and I take an extract of cranberry tablet every day. UTIs are often a problem for older people, if untreated they can send you doolally, and cranberry helps avoid that.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I give my dog supplements for his joints and skin .
And they are expensive
Sometimes I think I should be taking them myself .

Do you want a wet nose and nice shiny hair on your back then?

I take D3 and Turmeric, no idea if it helps or not
