Locked up.

Saturday I went into Boots to buy a lippy..
I didn't know what I wanted.. I wanted to check out the shades on offer from the many different brands..
All the cosmetics were behind glass under lock and key..
A notice read 'Ask one of our staff and they will open a cabinet of your choice'
That means ..
Finding someone who was free..
Standing by whilst me and my mate chatted over colours.
Unlocking another cabinet and doing the same..
Unlocking maybe a couple more..
Unlocking the first cabinet because there was a lippy in there that I thought I liked..
Changing my mind and looking at a choice in the third cabinet...
What a carry on..  I didn't bother to look for an assistant..
There were no other customers looking in cabinets..
How sad this is when we have to lock up our lippy because of shoplifting..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I don't know much about lipstick... no, really, I don't.
However, I do understand why shops are beginning to lock up at least some of their products, because the crime of shoplifting is on the increase to the extent that now the government (in their wisdom) are legally turning a blind eye to any shoplifting, if under £200 in value.
I fully expect that before long online shopping will begin to exceed high-street shops.  If not, expect increased prices imposed to cover losses through theft.

Not at all surprised Scrumpy.

The lady at Tesco told me just the same about so much getting stolen.

Thing is,  if they are allowed to take £200 worth without fear of prosecution,  and they are going from shop to shop taking another couple of hundred from each place,   they've only got to do 5 shops to have a grands worth of stuff for nought, and presumably, without being nicked.
That'll be all their Christmas shopping sorted!

Do it again next week and the week after and you have a nice little business that not even Rachel  will be able to bankrupt with tax.

I thought the first story would be health and safety.

A good idea!  I'll be very surprised if one day such an event will be reported in the news.
It actually does sound a good idea.  In fact, I might even try it myself, but I'll take the precaution of doing it in shops nowhere near I live, and take the precaution of putting my proceeds into the car and removing any labels before driving off to a different shop.
It could work quite well because, as I'm sure everyone here knows, I am a good, honest, upstanding citizen and look like it.

Gone are the days when we would sneak a sweet from the Pick-A-Mix..

I must admit to doing this in a store recently.. I just wanted to see If I could do it..
 Happy memories..
