I have a crack in my front tooth.  It has been there for many years. I thought it was just an indentation ..
My dentist ( friend) said I should have it capped..
I have never had this procedure before..
Does anyone on here know about it..?
I have booked to have it done next spring.
I do have Denplan but it does not cover the complete expenses..   I think I will have to pay around 180 ..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

They file down the tooth (what is in the gum is usually not touched).  Then when the remaining shape is good, they take an impression and create a new crown.  When it's produced, they stick it on to what remains of the original tooth.  It's unlikely to be painful.

£180 sounds cheap for a crown....

They are pretty much a permanent fix. I have two. One from when I was 18.

But I do have Denplan.. They pay some.. My dentist said my cost would be around 180..
But knowing them .. saying 180 cand be 300.. A bit like the vet..

I have one of those monthly plans now.   It costs me £23.95 per month,  and that is only a cheap-ish plan,  but I get six-monthly check-ups for that.

When I had that tooth out just recently I still had to pay another £220 though!

I pay £26 a month for four monthly check up - anything complicated is extra but it covered cost of an extraction a few years ago

I don't know how I did it, but I go to a dentist where I am still charged only at the usual NHS rate.
I don't know for how much longer I can keep this going!

That's not bad for the work involved.

If that's the only cost involved, seems pretty good in this day and age

What a bargain.  Will you need some wonky fruit too?

I think it would be better if we went to the vet instead of the doctor, then we wouldn't have to waste time telling him what was wrong with us.

Dextrous63

Doctors are cheaper than vets.

Vets seem to be more successful. I remember asking I could have some of what they gave our dogs that switched them from droop down ears to jumping straight onto chairbacks. They thought I was joking. I wasn't.
