Right.  I think we should have a little flutter between us.  I'm betting a virtual cuppa that he goes before Christmas

klondike

He's always going. He spends more time away from the UK than he does here. Can't get any decent hotel rooms here for some reason   and his wife doesn't want him home after that Ukrainian rent boys business.

Who would replace him?
Are there any sensible alternatives - in the Labour part that is ?

Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

Let's just remember that there are 412-ish labour MPs. Surely there is some talent in all that lot, that we have not heard of yet?

Secondly I don't believe he will be gone before Christmas, because he is not a Christian. More likely gone before Purim. We'll see.

That bloke Denis Healey's stand-in who isn't an MP has already lost the election for leader twice, so personally I write him off. So it'll be up to Klaus Schwab to appoint someone.

klondike

How many of that 412 have ever held down a job that isn't for the unions or in politics?

Same goes for most politicians - few have ever had to face the real world. Most of the current bunch in politics must have twitchy arses knowing that the longest they have left is 4 years and then they might have to actually work for a living.

Dextrous63

Of the 412 there is bound to be a few who aren't exactly high profile since Starmer wouldn't have promoted them (which is a bonus for them as they're not tarred by the same brush), and/or have decided not to rock the boat too much even though they know that the top team need relegating.

As such, there may well be a few hidden stars that may come out in due course.

Don't forget that the new leader will be chosen by the party not the electorate and they are essentially the same party that picked Corbyn
