... to pay the (full) stamp duty on my 800,000 pound seaside flat..

I cried when I found out that I had underpaid... My friend advised me wrongly..
To console myself I bought some lovely bright green trousers...

My love to you all... Angela..

*Warning*  Do Not Try This at Home.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Oi.  I gifted her the material for those trousers to be made (it was an old quilt cover from Brentford Nylons), and paid for a child who works in the basement of a Temu warehouse to tailor it.  £0.47 is what he charged me, including tax.

Alex

You're very cruel, Ange made sure everything was done 'proper'

klondike

The taxpayers were done proper for sure...

Oh dear.  Seems that her new flat has been vandalised outside, with somewhat unpleasant graffiti.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was some illegal immigrants who did it.  That £30k could have been used to put some of their mates in a few hotels for a while.

I've heard her lawyers have said she's scapegoating them, they didn't give her the advice she's claimed.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

She's a politician.  Of course she's going to cherry pick to create her own reality.

klondike

And whether she is believed or not depends on the political leaning of who is doing the judging.

For example I know nothing much about it other than avoided/evaded stamp duty and I already know she is guilty.

Dextrous63

The conveyancer she used has denied giving her any tax advice, since they are unqualified to do so as part as their remit, and acted in good faith based on info given to them.  My guess is that the info provided was possibly her response to "is this your main residence" (or something along those lines) which they forwarded to HMRC who then calculated the stamp duty required.

So, we're now left with the question of who, precisely, was it that had given her the advice to fill in the form incorrectly.

klondike

She may be thick but seems able to weave her way through how to get the best out of her property transactions and expenses. You don't need to have any qualifications to know how to fiddle benefits tax and expenses so probably a mate told her.

Who made the info public?
