Use the same letters formula! Once I had put in my first two lines, by omission, there was only one possible answer.  Usually it takes the first three lines.  Very rarely fails.

No, it was MOGUL. It was the only word that fitted.   I used none of those letters in my first word, O & U were in the right order in my second word, and as I had already used S & N, I knew it couldn't be FOCUS, or BONUS.  Not many choices left for -O-U-.
