Only 50,000?  Are you sure?
I thought that they come over at a thousand a day.

Only on good/bad days depending on your outlook. There are many zero /low days on the others.

Ideally of course it would be every day. Realistically if the  channel trip was blocked they'd find some other route. Probably via Irelsnd.or maybe just in lorries again

We've almost certainly got another 4 or 5 years adding another quarter million to the quarter million we must have had since it started as it has been running at tens of thousands for years now.

Absolutely.  It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to prevent illegal immigration into our country.

The only real solution would be to make our country unattractive to those who want to come here illegally.
Other countries find it quite easy to do.  Poland and Hungary are examples.  Both civilised countries but not suffering from mass illegal immigration.

As I have said before, remove all the big attractions and they will go somewhere else.

Yes 50,000 in one year but nobody's got rid of the 100,000 -odd  that were already here.

Poland has got lots of refugees from the Ukraine and Hungary is not really a good example. Moreover, both languages are not easy to learn. Many of our migrants have enormous problems with our language, but a lot of them speaks English very well. So you see, living and working in the UK would be much easier for them than here.

Good point.  Thanks ansu, that never really occurred to me.
