I don't suppose the men here watch the Soaps if they can help it?

I have only ever watched two,  Corrie & Emmerdale,  not bothered with any more,  but I ameven getting fed up with both of them now,  because there are making half the cast gay.  Why so many?

I accept real life, and some people prefer their own sex to the opposite sex,  but I feel they are exaggerating it all in the Soaps now, and I am getting fed up with seeing same sex's snogging each other in every episode.

Take Emmerdale for example.   It seems half that village is gay lately.
There's Charity Dingle,  married to Mackenzie,  yet now back snogging her ex-girlfriend.
Then Carla and her policewoman always kissing and cuddling.
Now it looks like young Vinny and that new bloke are going to start,  and Robert Sugden is back and about to snog Aaron  - who is already 'married'  to the murdering (and gay)  John.

In Corrie there is Tod Grimshaw and his fella.
The Vicar.
Anthony cotton.
Matty Barton  - and more I can't remember.  But I looked it up and there are NINE altogether.

Why so many nowadays?

I've only ever watched Corrie and I agree about the gay characters Mups.
I grew up in a street just like Corrie and we didn't have any homosexuals as far as I remember, although I realise it was probably illegal back then.  We had a spinster shop keeper who looked a bit suspect, but most houses were occupied by families.

Corrie has gone downhill, it no longer represents a northern working class street.   NO HUMOUR is my main grumble, followed by too many same sex couples for one little street.  I counted 9 actors playing gay parts !   Many actors have left due to friction with the producers I believe, although the "new venture" excuse is always given.

End of an era I fear.

I can't help but feel you're investing too much in these soap thingies.

Marge and I do watch Coronation Street, but only the repeats from several years ago when storylines were interesting, realistic yet often exciting.  The current version is not worth the effort, though, and I would not bother with it.

Why so many nowadays?
Because it's rife in their circles and they want to force it down our throats. I can only hope not literally

I'm surprised someone hasn't created a soap opera a bit like crossroads, but based in an immigrant hotel.  😬

GrannyMac

Someone is probably writing that as we speak!

I suspect the subtitles for all of the languages being used would take up most of the screen😬

I haven't watched Corrie in 20 or so years, it started to bore me rigid especially when it came on 3 times a week. I used to watch Crossroads and stuck with it till the last episode.
Don't watch any now, I seldom watch much telly at all, mostly just the Scottish News at 6pm and a quick peek at breakfast TV to see what's going on. We record any films we want to see, and Grimm I love that programme.

The old version, now screening, is on five days a week.  I seem to remember when we watched it in the olden days, it was twice a week.

I still record it, fast forward thru some of it. Don't watch any others.

Very little to watch.  We started watching King and Conqueror, but it didn't appeal.  The last semi historical drama I enjoyed was The Last Kingdom.
