My granddaughter Hattie took my motor yesterday..
Her motor has been recalled because of airbag problems..
They didn't provide her with a car and the whole business can take a couple of months..
She rented a car for two weeks.. which cost a few hundred pounds..
She isn't able to keep this up.. Soooo.. Nanny's car came into play..
Do I mind ? nah!!!..

I did apply a few rules though.. No speeding because she gets frightened..
Don't smoke in her.. makes her smell..
Keep the petrol topped up..
I told her that when it rains the wipers come on automatically.. as do the headlights when it gets dark..  She couldn't believe that my old banger was capable of these things and it was a surprise to her..
She sent me a text later in the day..
' Lovely car Nanny'... 'Your mirror needed adjusting because it didn't give a clear view of the road behind'
' I have done it for you'..

Stupid or what..!!!  I am 5ft 4in.. she is 5ft 6in... Of course the mirror needs adjusting to whoever is driving it..
Oh!!! Dear!!! what have I done..!!!    and she went to Uni...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

My son sometimes borrows my little Fiesta if his car is off the road, I also tell him not to go fast as my car isn't used to it.  He tells me driving at 40 mph is dangerous on the M56  !  very true I suppose.  Last time he borrowed it he hoovered it out before returning it

Make sure that their insurance covers this. It used to be that by default a comprehensive policy covered the driver for third party use of a vehicle lent to them. Apart from bumping prices things that used to be included such as free windscreen chip repair and that driving other cars are no longer included unless you've paid extra for the option on many policies.

I put my son on the insurance for my car when I renewed the policy.  I couldn't believe it was exactly the same price with or without him as extra driver !

I checked the price to add my daughter and it was quite a bit more (can't remember exactly how much though). To be honest I was glad of the excuse as she has a heavy right foot. I used to have one too when I was going long distances to work each day but I'm a lot more staid since I retired.

Everything is covered for Hattie to drive my motor.. Plus all break down cover...
