When I quote someone's post and answer it, that's fine BUT, if I try to post anything else in the thread it won't come up as a separate post, it adds it's self into my previous post, been happening for a while now. Any suggestions on how to separate the posts?

It is simple.  Start a new thread, obviously under a different title.

Eh? but I only want to answer someone's question, like I tried to do with you about your container a few minutes ago.

Two separate posts made in the same thread within (from memory) 15 minutes with no intervening post are combined. I think there is maybe a date line or something between. I'll add one after this to see what it does.

Added post to see what the combining looks like

Yes it just puts in a date line and modifies the prior post.

Is that a problem?
