One thing is certain after events within Ukraine Russia and now Iran and that is Putin is going to have to heavily discount his prices for air defence systems and tanks.

I wonder how far Putin will go.  Third World War?  I suspect it might be nothing more than bluster, as he already has his hands full trying to defeat Ukraine.

I don't know about that.   Are China his friends?

I'm not sure that China would put themselves on the line to defend Russia.  If they did retaliate to an attack of Russia, the attacker would then choose to attack China as well.
Quite apart from that, I don't think Russia and China are big friends anyway.  China is fully aware that Russia nicked part of their country which is now part of Siberia.  Even if the two countries did form an alliance, and assuming they have conquered the other major state, the US, it would not be long before another war broke out between them both.
Look at the history of the world.  That is exactly what tends to happen!

It all comes back to what is the matter with all these men in the first place?

Is it an insatiable  'Power thing?'
Are there some males who are just naturals bullies,  or is it just plain greed?
I wonder if they truly believe they are right,  or maybe they start something then can't get out of it again without losing face?

I know I have always said it,  but I still think a lot of it is also because they choose to fight, but then send others to do the dirty work for them!

China is doubtless greedily eyeing up all those natural resources in the Russian realm. 11 time zones is one hell of a lot of territory.

Here you go.   What was I saying a while back?  WW3  on the way.

Britain risked being dragged into an all-out war in the Middle East as the government made clear it was prepared to defend the US from an attack by Iran.

Tehran said it had begun targeting America's largest military base in the Middle East, just outside the Qatari capital of Doha, on Monday evening in retaliation for Donald Trump's strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities.

" Britain risked being dragged into an all-out war in the Middle East as the government made clear it was prepared to defend the US from an attack by Iran."

They should do apparently NATO and all that.....but when did this government say they would  defend the    US ?

Maggie's premiership was in the doldrums but the Fauklands war gave her a boost. Maybe Starmer hopes a bit of a war will take our minds off the mess he is making of home. If he does I fear he is going to suffer a big disappointment. Surely nobody can be keen on military adventures any more after the mess that Blair and Bush's lunacy made of the entire middle east.

As far as I'm aware, TwoTier has successfully avoided making any clear suggestions of what he might or might not do.  He's keeping quiet because he simply doesn't have any idea what to do next.

He's a defence lawyer, not a leader.

Is he even in the UK ?  He hasn't said a dicky bird, apart from 'de-escalation' He's so weak it's embarrassing

Just been on news he was here with Zelensky.

I think he spends as much time as possible abroad at taxpayers expense rather that in one of Lord Ali's gaffes or he'll have the papers after him again. The only other option left would be with his wife which is out of the question.

Going into Iraq didn't enhance Blair's reputation. I think war works best for politicians when the country is led to believe that the politicians are on our side.

klondike

All politicians are on their own side. Occasionally, just occasionally,  that coincides with the interests of the country they lead.

I read that there was a ceasefire agreement in the early hours of this morning.
When we got up, later, it appears that Iran has fired another ballistic missile at Israel.
Ceasefire?  There will be a ceasefire only when the muslim terrorists in charge of Iran are all dead.

Totally agree JB, nothing will change as long as these mad men are in charge of Iran.
