The USA have struck against three sites in Iran assumed to be part of Iran's nuclear programme. President Trump has warned Iran that if they do not make peace, more will follow

He has put his money where his mouth is .
I wonder what comes next .
At the moment Iran is bombing Israel with ballistic missiles
Why won't this fanatical death cult that rules Iran make peace ?

I think there is every chance that the Ayatolla will soon be resting in peace.

Alex

Hopefully this is the start of the world being a safer place.

Iran is a big destabilising influence for sure. The price of fuel went down just after I filled my tank. Now it's on the way back up. Typical.

Certainly the Middle East.
If the terrorists leading Iran are disposed of, which I think would certainly benefit the peaceful people of Iran, the next step would be to deal with the other terrorists near Israel: Hamans and Herpes, or whatever they're called.

Actually, Marge is a little worried because we shall be going to South Africa later this year, the flight being via Dubai which, of course, is just over a little waterway from Iran.  Depending on circumstances, they might have to divert us, possibly on to a more direct flight.  We'll have to see what the travel company decides.

Just seen this:

'The Russian foreign ministry has said it "strongly condemns" US President Donald Trump's "irresponsible decision" to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.'

Apparently China say much the same.

Apparently it is an absolute disgrace that a nuclear armed permanent member of the UN Security Council has attacked a sovereign state in breach of the UN Charter. Says Russia. Pots and kettles spring to mind

As I said - hardly surprising.

just looked at the BBC News site on is Israel-Gaza coverage.
Thought that the BBC was supposed to be impartial? Report factually? Every single item highlights Israel's attacks- no mention of attacks on Israel.

Vlad

The nuclear plant at Bushehr wasn't touched.
Russian scientists are currently working with the Iranians at this site. Trump is a bit of mate of Putins apparently. So it's entirely feasible that any exotic materials and equipment were moved, quite possibly to Bushehr, which appears to be off the target list
We live in interesting times, I mean telling everyone you are going to bomb the crap out of Iran seems a tad odd ...

Mups

I don't like the way this is going one bit.
Trump seems to have got on the wrong side of Putin now.

Quote:

Vladimir Putin slammed Donald Trump after the US struck nuclear sites in Iran and said Russia would assist Tehran. He blasted the strikes as "unprovoked aggression that has no justification".

It is not clear what Mr Putin meant by "help" and his comments come as Iran's foreign minister meets the Russian President for talks in Moscow.

Ashy

Let us hope it ends peaceably.

We can hope, Ashy,  but I fear these pig-headed men will put an end to our hopes.

Perhaps Russia has forgotten that it attacked a sovereign state (Ukraine) in breach of the UN Charter.
Or perhaps they regard it not as a sovereign state, but as a breakaway state from the USSR?

I wonder how far Putin will go.  Third World War?  I suspect it might be nothing more than bluster, as he already has his hands full trying to defeat Ukraine.
