240 people are believed killed in an aeroplane crash in India, the flight was en route to London (Gatwick) but never took off properly. We don't expect this in the 21st century but sadly it still happens.

The coverage of this crash has been on TV all day, BBC, Sky, GB News all dedicated to it.  They've just said miraculously two people have survived.

As if this appalling  Indian plane crash disaster isn't enough,  now they also have a huge 890 ft Cargo ship carrying 2128 tonnes of fuel on fire on the Southern coast of India.

Five coastguard ships are said to be fighting the blaze,  but they are saying it will be a serious risk to the marine environment.

Just one
now, and he walked out of it.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Terrible news. Marvellous for the lone survivor but now they say there are casualties on the ground which is highly likely given that the crash was so close to the airport.

It's on all the news bulletins this morning too,  but I don't think they have discovered the cause of the crash yet, have they?
It showed the lone survivor in hospital,  but he looked either asleep, or unconscious.  Maybe when he wakes he might be able to shed some light on what happened.

I believe another 8 people on the ground were also killed when this plane came down in the grounds of  a medical college building.

Goodness,  I have just read another air India plane going from Tahiland to New Dehli,  has had to make an emergency landing because of a bomb threat!

Doubt they will get much from a passenger as I also doubt they get told much if the plane is crashing other that to get their seatbelts on and their heads down. The flight recorder should help unless it was some external problem like a bird strike or terrorist action.

Ashy

My understanding is that the aeroplane was still taking off, had barely reached 700 feet, so the passengers would have their belts on.

It's still a bit early to say what caused the crash, and of course the world needs to know what it was as soon as possible.

ONE of the flight recorders.   I don't know how many more there are?

I think there's a seperate cockpit voice recorder. Ashy seems to follow a lot of this sort of thing so he'll know.
