What is your secret to getting streak-free windows when cleaning them?

It is no disheartening when I think I've done a good job,  only to find that when the sun comes out,  the glass is all streaky.    It drives me nuts.

Any fool-proof tips please?

Alex

Scrunched up newspaper is supposed to be good, or window scrim.

Raven

Yes newspaper is great, but use diluted white vinegar and water in a spray bottle to clean.
Much cheaper than bought window cleaner, works better too. :upvote:

Raven and Alex were right.  :upvote:  Thank you ladies.

I raked out a book I have about all the uses for Vinegar.    It is  not just for putting on our fish & chips either.  It is good for lots of things apparently.

It said 3 tablespoons Vinegar + half teasoon of liquid soap (I used washing up liquid),  mixed with 1 litre of water.

Then cleaned off with either a microfibre cloth, one of those rubber blade things,  or scrunched up newspaper.
I put this mixture into a spray squirter, and did the kitchen ones inside and out this afternoon,  and they look sparkling, but   I will know for sure when the sun comes out tomorrow.  :upvote:

If they are all smeary in the sun tomorrow,  I shall wish I'd taken notice of you.

Me too Mike, but only for the outsides.

I use a window spray and kitchen roll.  The ones at the back of the house, North facing, look great.  The front gets all the sun, and I can always see a streak or two on them whatever method I've tried.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I just clean my windows with a windowlene spray.. They seem ok to me..
I don't look that closely..
At the moment , because it is so dry and dusty, they seem to have a sandy look..
Just like my car.. and my neighbours..
Waiting for some rain...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I am chuffed to bits this morning.   I have streak-free windows.

I wondered where I was for a moment, because I could see flowers and trees and a nice lawn.
I hadn't seen them for a good while.
