UK and India have signed a free trade deal worth a few billion !  It seems the UK Government has caved in to India's demand (surprise surprise) that Indian nationals working here temporarily, will be exempt from paying NI Contributions for three years:shocked: bit bizarre innit ?

Alex

Just thought....I wonder if these workers will still have access to the NHS and unemployment payment if they're off work sick ? :hmm:

This sounds typical for this Labour government.

The EU, the US, the Third World, and now India, all jumping on the Labour bandwagon and all taking full advantage of their inherent weakness.

How much more damage will be done over the next four years?

I have every confidence that they will all be housed for free in four-star hotels!

Just read 500,000 Indians have arrived here in the past 2 years.  Now Starmer's trade deal gives Indian workers 3 years without NI, but there's no cap on how many can come.  I've no idea which planet 'two tier' is on, but it's not ours !

I wish that really was so. Some too hot some too cold but best of all none with a breathable atmosphere.

Mups

I just saw that Fiona Bruce had 'breaking news'  today,  to say that India has bombed 9 sites in Pakistan,  including a big Mosque now.
People were injured, and a child was killed.

What's the matter with the world today?  Why is there so many wars and hatred everywhere?
There's got to be a reason.

Often you need look no further than religion.

I'm with India on this.  Unlike Pakis, they tend not to rape young white girls.

I have met some lovely Indian doctors .

Alex

There's already been trouble in London according to Twatter, watch out Birmingham, Bradford and Leicester.  Of course some of these Pakis could head home to help out the war effort in the motherland.

So have I.  Our regular optician is, I believe, originally from India and a very nice and well-qualified chap.

I  can only speak of the people I know personally.
I did 11 years of Yoga with  Hindu's,  until the Covid lockdown messed everything up.

They were kind, gentle people, who looked after me  from Day 1 and I have remained friends with some to this day.

Alex

The majority of Indian people are peaceful and hard working, but we won't be getting doctors or engineers with this new trade deal.

Plus, what's to stop small or medium companies getting rid of British workers and replacing them with Indian staff ?  As far as I know this non payment of NI applies to workers and employers.

There must have been a reason for the Tories not going ahead with this deal.

klondike

Time will tell and I have little doubt that we will pay for them making a poor deal. I wonder if the NI exemption applies to the employers too. If so expect longer dole queues. We already have a housing shortage so how can increasing immigration be a good choice.

JBR

Of course.  Yet another Labour plan to ruin the country.  How much more damage can they do?
