The White House social media has released a picture of Trump dressed as a Pope. For sheer and utter tastelessness, it is hard to think of anything worse

He's half Scottish, most Scots are ashamed of him.

You are right. My aunt always said that people when they get older they behave like they did when they were a child, but this photo is more than a schoolboy prank.
His ancestors came from Germany and somewhere I read that they didn't have such a good reputation there.

The fault lies with the American electorate. It's a good idea to respect wise elders but to elect two possibly corrupt and certainly senescent presidents in a row smacks of idiocy.

Personally, I think he is a power-obsessed nutter.

I have always respected Trump as being a strong, pro-American leader.  Unfortunately, he now sounds very much as if he is going a bit doolally.  Yes, do everything possible to protect America.  I agree with that, but some of the quite silly things he comes up with: annexing Canada and Greenland, for example, and his attempts to cosy up to Putin, are not going to achieve anything of any value.

Regarding the latter, the Ukraine war, I would have expected him to offer Zelenski more support, at least with the supply of arms.  I am impressed at how much Zelenski and his people have already done to hold back the Russians, but he doesn't have a bottomless pit of arms or money.  Naturally, Poland is now becoming a little worried and, without the full support of America as a NATO member, they could be in a very serious position.

America will pay for his mistakes and he'll not admit doing anything wrong. I absolutely hated Harris but she would probablty have been controlled by wiser and more capable heads. I really doubt that the next President will be a Republican as he is making a bigger Horlicks of his job and quicker too than even Starmer.

Apart from it being against the American law, I read that Trump intends to stand for a third term of being President. I wonder how that will go down, and how he'll react to being told No your only allowed two terms. Hissy Fits and law changes coming up do you think?

klondike

He may not complete term 2 if he is impeached...

I can't say that the ai-generated picture is in very good taste but the American sense of humour isn't quite the same as ours. It just represents a man in a costume doing nothing special. I'm sure Dave Allen was more disrespectful.

Humour is said to depend upon good timing and I'm guessing that the religious maybe don't consider doing this at the time one of the branch office heads gets called to head office by the head honcho is good timing.

Mups

He hasn't half upset a lot of Catholics with that picture now,  especially as their Pope has only been dead a few days.   They think it was extremely disrespectful.
