I'm assuming that you drive - I think the perspective from the passenger seat is sufficiently different from the driving seat to fool you - it does me anyway.

I think im just going to wear blinkers when I'm a passenger.  It's the only way to avoid palpitations

My granddaughter Hattie drives too fast and travels close to the car in front..
We, the family , were in a car park deciding who was travelling in which car.. When someone suggested that Nanny would go with Hattie she replied ' No.. I want to drive fast and have. Ciggie'
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I once had a driving job, delivering and collecting films for Boots the Chemist.  I loved it, riding around in a little mini I covered Wirral and Cheshire. :upvote: many moons ago of course.  I've driven to and from Germany on my own many times too, through Belgium and Holland.  The only time I got lost was in Hull - coming off the ferry.

Seeing the meadow seeds I scattered in the garden poking their heads up..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I'm impressed. I learnt in my 30s, my OH has driven all over the UK since his teens, I was always happy to have him drive anywhere that I wasn't familiar with.

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

My son is exactly the same, Scrumpy.   It unnerves me.

I didn't learn to drive until I was 52... Sam insisted that I learn when he knew he didn't have long to live..
I still remember his face when I returned from my test.. He was waiting at the gate for me.. I got out the car and quickly went to him.. great feeling..

A driving licence used to be freedom. I fear it won't be much longer as the push to expensive throw away cars that make long trips fraught with problems will put such transport out of reach of the masses who rely on getting cheap old cars.

There won't be any of those as the batteries will be buggered and too expensive to replace so such cars will get scrapped - the batteries are difficult to recycle so getting a car with one that is buggered not only means you've lost the value of the car but will likely face a big bill to dispose of it. Expect lots of old car fires.

Our car is 17 years old, and only has around 41,000 on the clock.  Just got through its MOT fairly easily.   We don't go far these days, so don't see any point in buying a newer one.

My lovely old Peugeot 206 is very old.. She has never let me down.. She scrubs up well..  can hold her own when pulling away... and doesn't look out of place in any car park..
I wouldn't replace her unless I won the lottery.. Even so I would never scrap her..

My old Fiat is 11 yrs old and done about 34,000, or thereabouts.

Like you Scrumpy,  I am not interested in replacing it.  It does everything I need for the small amount of motoring I do these days.

My little Fiesta is an 05 plate so 20 years old now and it's been a great car.
There's 84,000 miles on the clock (I think) so I'm hoping it will "see me out"

My new shoes have been delivered...
They fit.. They are comfortable.. I don't need to wear them in..
THAT is true happiness...
