Hopefully we should get our state pension rises next week.

I have been informed mine will increase by just over £7,  so that is a pleasant surprise from the usual 20p or so!
Mind you,  with increases in Water, Gas & Electric and food,  any increase will soon be gobbled up.

Your not wrong there, it's all pay out, pay out.  :boo:

Plus although the pension is tax free it counts against your personal allowance so in effect any increase is taxed if you have much other taxable income. With personal allowances frozen it won't be long before a chunk of the state pension itself is getting taxed.

Wouldn't surprise me if more people avoid declaring all of their earnings to mitigate the situation.

I suspect t most pensioners don't get the opportunity for that. Private pensions are paid via PAYE as is most employment. The only way out is some sort of personal services or buying stuff at car boots and flogging it on eBay and similar stuff. Unless you are rich of course.

There must be many people who buy and sell items without bothering with declaring it to the tax man.
I have done such without telling anyone or even writing it down, though not involving a great deal of money.
The drawback, of course, is that there is no comeback if items don't turn out to be of expected quality.
As taxes increase, I expect such things will expand accordingly.  Who wants to pay taxes?  😉😉😉

wiith the freezing of levels leading to fiscal drag I am now in the higher tax bracket - as a pensioner! Can't believe it!
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

This month I am also hoping to get the £50.  Nationwide promised its members recently.
Has anybody else received theirs yet?
