Scrumpy

Is closing all it's stores.. How sad is that !!
I seldom go into the store but it is a name we are all familiar with..
I remember when Woolworths closed.. That was the place to be seen back then..
Their  'Pick a Mix' was brilliant.. I often popped a sweet into my mouth..

It is being taken over by another store  ... it's tippy tonguey.. I will remember it at some point..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

WHS are only going to operate at Airports and such in future, aren't they.
It said on last night's news that about 85% of their income came from these places anyway.

I think it's really sad as more and more of these shops we probably all grew up with are disappearing.
Pretty much all we've got down in our Hight Street now are Nail Bars, dubious looking Barbours,  and Tattoo Parlours.

I used to always go into Wilko's and I miss that shop a lot.   It has stood empty for a few months,  but I see it has now opened up again as a BM store.   I popped in their this morning actually, and it was crowded with queues at all the tills.  Looks like it will be popular.
I actually hoped to get a roll of crepe bandage,  but they had none,  so off I went to quite a big pharmacy in town and couldn't believe it when they said they had none, either.   Never known a chemist who doesn't sell bandages!
Sometimes we have no choice but to buy from Amazon.

Years back it used to be shoe shops. Then phone shops. Then vape shops. About the only places that have maintained a bit of a presence over the years are bookies.

Our Wilko store is still empty.  It's missed, even though we have several others locally that sell similar stuff. Home Bargains, B&M, Poundland, Savers etc.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Wilko has gone from a nearby town.. Shop fronts are boarded up..
A shop opened up a few weeks back..
PEACOCKS.. We went inside the store and it was like stepping back in time..
Rails of stripes and flowery clothes.. We were the only customers in the store..
There was a PEACOCKS in Crawley many years back.. It closed down ..
Why, why .. have they revived this store again..!!
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Somebody must have bought the name. I'm pretty sure they closed here years back although I must declare it isn't somewhere I get my clothes. There have been a few old British brand names where just the name remains - think MG cars for one but there are plenty of others.

Lots of shops closing down now.  Fortunately, still many curry shops.

Weirdly, The Range stores still sell some Wilko products, especially paint.
