Quote from: klondike on March 14, 2025, 11:41:13 PMI saw that somebody who got home and found a stowaway hiding somewhere under bike covers or some such on their campervan called the police.  They got a £500 fine for bringing one in. The lesson is clear if you find one hiding - just ignore them because if you do the right thing it will cost you £500.
I'm surprised that the stowaway hasn't sued the owner of the camper van for mental torment for putting him in danger by not checking that he was on board prior to setting off.

The fine has been cancelled - and I should damn well thing so!

I'm concerned about who thought it was appropriate to issue the fine in the first place.  Whoever it was needs a damned good rollocking at the very least and to issue an apology to the campervan owners.

I agree.  This sounds like 'if in doubt convict the British citizen', or just another 'look after the illegals'!

I'm sure this fine was enforced a few years ago when lorry drivers were found to be bringing in illegals and making a lot of money in the process.

They probably are still coming here in lorries, but perhaps the preferential way is to sit in the Channel until our Border Farce rushes out to give them a free trip to an ideal life of generous handouts in Broken Britain.
