Email from National grid with that as the title. Somebody must have bought an electric car and heat pump up the road.

It's these windmills, you know.
They're going to have to go back to coal mining and traditional power stations.
Or build more nuclear power stations.
We're alright.  I've bought a treadmill for Marge.

Yes, we get power outs from time to time, we have torches, camping stoves, and an open fire.

Tempting fate, I suppose, but Marge and I have never had a power cut in thirty-odd years of marriage.
Perhaps we have just been lucky, and I'm sure it will visit us on one fine day.

Can't remember a power cut after the 1970's ever affecting me/us.

When we lived in a village there were short term outages annoyingly often.

Most town properties have been fine although there was a fire in the local substation here that put us out for a while. Over enthusiastic digging across the road during the repairs caused by that managed to put out loads of houses in the road off over there and they then parked up a noisy diesel generator and ran cables along the guttering with drops into each house while they dug up the path to replace the melted cables. That was there for several days.
