Russia is very much the junior partner of the two. China has a huge economy and despite the size of Russia it's economy is smaller than Italy's.

As of 2025, the estimated nominal GDPs for China, Russia, and Italy are as follows:

China: $19.53 trillion

Russia: $2.07 trillion

Italy: $2.35 trillion

These figures are based on projections from sources like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
