It's the legal obligation of company directors to try to maximise profits. They have obviously decided to fulfil their legal obligations rather than indulge in continued virtue signalling that is not meeting the sort of favourable reception it once did with the public.

 The public is finally catching on to the fact that not only is net zero unattainable for decades but attempting it in the timescales set out by the numbskulls in government is the pathway to being both colder and poorer for zero benefit to the planet.

I applaud them.  I'm sure that most thinking people realise that EVs are not really the future: far too many disadvantages, and those who have bought one will soon realise the level of depreciation is off-putting.

I don't think our politicians are really stupid enough to think they can change the weather or even that carbon dioxide affects it. BP is doing more good in the world by extracting oil and gas.
