Indeed it is.  Of course the usual culprits will cite this as evidence of racism within police forces.

Personally, my view is that if one is totally innocent of any crime, then by and large one will not be convicted, irrespective of race and background.

I'd agree, and considering the things I have heard about in our courts lately, perhaps even if someone is not totally innocent!
