Does everyone still buy Lurpak  ?  I still think it's the best, but I have tried two of the butters mentioned in this taste test by the Mirror.    Aldi's Nordpak is the one I usually buy it's quite nice and with Lurpak 500g selling for around £5 in many supermarkets no wonder it's become very popular.

1) I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, 450g, £1.50, Tesco
I can't believe anyone thinks this tastes anything like butter. An artificial tasting margarine. I needed plenty of gulps of tea to get rid of the taste it left in my mouth.
Rating: 1/5

2) Daisy, 500g, £1.75, Lidl
New from Lidl. Daisy has a rich taste which I quite enjoyed, but I couldn't quite manage more than a couple of bites – a surprise at this early stage of the taste test.
Rating: 3/5

3) Danpak spreadable, 500g, £2.19, Lidl
It was creamy and spread very easily. And the buttery smell was fantastic. Dead cert as Lurpak original, I initially thought.
Rating: 4/5

4) Nordpak, 500g, £2.09, Aldi
Aldi 's Lurpak version tastes light and creamy, with an instant salt hit coming straight through. I was convinced this was the real thing. Aldi edged Lidl's version and even the real thing in my book.
Rating: 5/5

5) Beautifully Buttery, 500g, 95p, Aldi
Spread beautifully on my toast, but the taste was incredibly unpleasant - flavourless and fatty. I could feel my arteries clogging up with one bite. This had me reaching for my mug of tea to wash out the taste.

Yes, always Lurpak Lighter and it spreads from the fridge.

We use block butter, not spreads.  Trying to cut out as many processed foods as we can.  I only buy Lurpak on offer, Lidl's own butter is fine.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I'm surprised it's ok if not stored in the fridge, Scrumpy?
They say it goes rancid after two or three days if kept at room temperature.
Have you ever dound that?

Never... Salted butter doesn't stay on my work top for any length of time...

We use a heavy ceramic butter dish, once it's open it only goes in the fridge in warm weather.   Unopened blocks kept in the fridge til we need them.

What was all that fuss about Lurpak a few weeks ago?
Has it blown over now?
