Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank, has been coping with intense grief following the death of his husband, Paul Foreman, in a heartbreaking storyline related to motor neurone disease. This loss has deeply affected him, leaving him struggling with his faith and purpose. Billy is still part of Coronation Street, but his recent appearances focus on his emotional journey and efforts to move forward. Fans are hopeful for new developments in his story in 2025】.

Oh dear,  my apologies to you, Klondike.
I didn't realise we were both talking about the same person.
Thanks for the info.

I wasn't talking about anybody. ChatGPT was

I think the last time I saw Coronation Street it was in the snug at the Rovers Return with Ena Sharples, Martha Longhurst and Minnie Caldwell supping milk stout.

Odd I can recall that but not what I had for tea yesterday.

Aah,  they say that happens to us as we get older.   We remember things from years ago, but can't remember what we had for breakfast.

I always know what I had for breakfast. I'm boring and always have the same things. Sad or what?

Short life expectancy for soap characters it seems. Do any just die of old age?

Every once in a while I make a change and stick with that but it isn't often.

Yes,  I read that too.

Plus 'Daisy',  and Eileen,  and Craig, and Debbie Webster.

As you say, Alex,   what's going on I wonder?

I'm not sure the loss of viewers is due to losing long-term actors and their characters.

After all, I remember watching Coronation Street when black and white.  Characters like Ena Sharples, Len Fairclough, Minnie Longhurst, Elsie Tanner, etc.  It was entertaining with interesting characters and storylines then.
The current 'Classic' version still has one or two characters I think I remember from the old B&W days, and still has some interesting and sometimes even gripping storylines.

Unfortunately the current version, which I have watched a little, just doesn't cut the mustard.  Not the new characters, in fact there are still one or two old ones, but the rather boring storylines!

I'm like that.  Forgetting things (which it appears I shouldn't) drives Marge up the wall.
